SNACKS

People are often asking what snacks can they have with prediabetes.  We have listed snacks that can be eaten relatively safely for you.  This is not a complete list, but is enough to get you started.

  • 1 x small apple or pear

  • 5 x cherries

  • Half a grapefruit

  • 1 kiwi fruit

  • 1 x plum

  • 100 g raspberries

  • 100 g plain yoghurt

  • 1 x fresh apricot

  • 45 g olives

  • 85 g strawberries (7 berries)

  • 40 g blueberries (20 berries)

  • 1 x satsuma/clementine/tangerine

  • 2 x breadsticks (add to vegetables and dips)

  • 1 x cracker and low fat cream cheese/tuna/salmon/salad

The foods below are low in carbohydrates, but high in calories.  Some are also high in salt.  If you are trying to lose weight, only choose them occasionally and in small amounts.

 

  • 70g peanuts

  • 30 x cashew nuts

  • 25 g sunflower seeds

  • 10-15 g crisps (1/2 a small bag)

  • 1 x small Scotch egg (20 g in weight)​
