SUPPLEMENTS

There are lots of supplements in the form of vitamins and minerals out there that are touted as helping to lower your blood glucose levels.   Adverts for these are especially prevalent on social media and social media forums whereby people will tell you that they are an absolute saviour and the best thing ever.  Bearing that in mind there is currently no scientific evidence that these will help you with prediabetes by lowering your blood glucose levels.

We are of the opinion you don't need them if you follow a balanced diet and the healthy eating plate method ie - 1/2 a plate of veggies or salad, 1/4 protein and 1/4 carbs, and exercise.    â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹

That said, if you wish to take supplements that is up to you personally.  However, if you do go down the road of supplements it is essential you check with your GP if you are on other medications.  The supplement you have chosen may interfere with how that medication works and you don't want additional problems down the line.

When you have been diagnosed as prediabetic you will look for anything that you think will help you and if you wish to take supplements that is down to you personally.  We however, would definitely advocate saving your pennies on potentially "quack doctor" remedies and put your effort and money into healthy eating and exercise.
